It was tons of fun to discuss "The Proxy Marriage" by by Maile Meloy with the Literary Roadhouse crew.

I was lucky enough to be a guest on Literary Roadhouse, a podcast that discusses one short story a week.

As the guest, I chose the story we discussed, which was “The Proxy Marriage” by Maile Meloy. It’s one of my favorites, an emotional coming-of-age story with a rare happy ending. I joined Anais Concepcion, Maya Goode, and Gerald Hornsby, three of the fabulous podcasters behind Literary Roadhouse. We all loved the story and had a blast discussing its various complexities. After we discussed the story, I had the pleasure of being interviewed by Anais. We talked about teaching, writing with vulnerability, dealing with the fallout when people think they recognize themselves in my writing, and lots of other topics.

I was lucky enough to have two of my own stories, “La Cuesta Encantada” and “Once Removed,” discussed by Literary Roadhouse.
