Literary Roadhouse Bookclub is finally back with Episode 26, in which we discuss Black Leopard, Red Wolf by Marlon James.
As much as Gerald, Anais, and I had all looked forward to reading this book and discussing it in time to release Episode 26 in April, as we had planned, we were surprised to find the book tough going. As we said in the discussion notes, what felt to us like an excessive amount of gratuitous physical and sexual violence was disturbing and made us reluctant to read the book and then to release the podcast.
Still, there is much to admire about this ambitious, sprawling book, and we spend the greater part of the podcast discussing its positive aspects. The ranting about the less appealing parts we left for the final 15 minutes.
Enjoy!
